Lines can be such a hassle…

Though we feel that the Mark Farina event this past Friday was a complete success and, by judging the sheer number of sweaty bodies, we'd gamble that you all had a great time, we do recognize some things that could have been done differently to make your night all the better. Some of you were forced to wait in line again after having stepped out for a smoke, and we agree that this is unfair.

As many of you know, Aura is well-known as being more of a mainstream venue, and so are used to dealing with a different sort of crowd than all you easy going, fun-loving folk that we are thankful to have as a part of this scene. We'd like to acknowledge that some of you were required to wait unnecessarily for re-entry to the club, and ensure you that this is something that will be changed in the future. Similarly, we plan on working with our new friends at Aura in ensuring that your experience at future events there will be as positive as possible.

We'd also like to remind you that this scene of ours is a family, and like any great family, communication is key. If ever you have feedback that you'd like to send our way in a constructive, positive manner, we always love to hear it. As this blog is one of our means of communicating with you, we appreciate you taking the time to communicate with us

  1. Sounds like Aura isn't the place to have a show, eh? Was one of the main things that deterred be from going to the show anyways.

  2. Aura holds there lines to make the club look better from the outside and there security is rude. I recommend not using aura anymore. There are plenty of venues that can house events like this.

  3. Never liked Aura.. It's security is rude, lines wait is ridiculous, and the majority of the people are fake. It's not a place to go for music, it's a place to show of your latest Jersey Shore look.

  4. I have never been there before this... and have missed hearing good house music, from growing up at the tunnel and wild pitch parties.. back in the old skool days... there was seriously no place to dance... I REALLY wanted to DANCE... who gives a crap about a line ... I smoke.. I asked.. they said I might have to wait and may not get back in... so I stayed inside ... lol

AWSOME DJ.... NO PLACE TO DANCE!!

that's was way to small of a club... especially for that big of a dj ... you know what I mean lol

  5. Loved the show but Aura was definitely the wrong place for it.

  6. I am sorry but... A good friend was beaten by police!!! As a result for asking for his money back. Yes it was a success for the promoters at $20 a head!

  7. LOVED mercedes & mark farina - HATED THIS PLACE. I had never been here before and will never go again. There was no place to dance and we got kicked out of the totally unmarked "VIP area" by some overdressed yuppies (which was taking up like a fifth of the dance floor). I could look around and see that at least half of the crowd was thinking "wtf, why am I here?". Please put this kind of show somewhere more suitable next time (Refuge comes to mind...)

  8. I do like Aura - I have DJ'd there, and have a great time there. Having said that, I was a little reticent about going to such a well known house dj at this venue. I had a feeling that all of the exposure coupled with being a more mainstream venue would turn this into an overflow situation and I was right. When I arrived to the venue, I was greeted with the line as a lot of people have said, I was with a friend who really wanted to see Mark - so we waited a good 30 minutes... but the realiziation came to us that if this is what it is like just to get into the club, that it was probably a joke to think we would get any quality dancing and that it wasn't going to be a SEA of people once inside.

I really did want to check it out, but it was freezing outside, and I hate waiting in lines, and valuable party time was being used up - so we decided to go to another venue. :)

Glad it was successful for the promoters, and I'm sure you can make events work here at Aura - because it is a nice venue, but I would work out someway to ensure that people who are presale and advance ticket purchasers are able to get in over people who bought tickets the day of and also make an attempt to track how many tickets are being sold. I'm all for promoters making their bank on a show, but your reputation will take a hit if you continuously sell shows without thinking about peoples comfort at all.

Cheers and look forward to the next one,

  9. Seems this show was all about making money.

This is not a scene, this is not a clique, it is a CULTURE.

By throwing these shows in venues which are not accommodating to the art of the culture your efforts at support are diminished.

    Your actions speak for themselves.

I, for one, will not give my money to anything that goes in this direction. I have seen Farina many times as far back as the loft days in Chicago and I would rather miss his show than contribute to the destruction of our culture.

  10. I'm no longer part of that scene due moving away... Aura is great place but if you want decent treatment I would go to fez ballroom entrance, they are cool security cats. As for Mark throwing down... Sounds like they shouldve put him up in the ballroom...

  11. Red Cube. Love you guys, and the talent you have been bringing through town is amazing, but this is the second show in a row of yours that I've been to that has had some major logistical issues. Even though Datsik killed it, the back area at your 7 year was a disaster (mud pit and 1 poorly lit toilet??) and now the issues with the lines @ Farina. I know sometimes things are out of the control of the promoters, but people pay too much for this kind of poor planning.
