Naughty-or-Nice: Thanks for making this a success!

Saturday night's joint venture with Ground Breaking Events (GBE), Naughty-or-Nice, at the Bohemia Warehouse, was a huge success. We were grateful to see so many smiling, dancing, sweaty bodies in one place, and we can't thank you all enough for your support.

In a continued effort to keep much of our event practices transparent, and to further encourage dialogue with those who attend our events, we've made a few notes regarding the event.

In taking into consideration feedback and lessons that we learned with our last event, we made efforts to organize the lines a little better this time around. Per many of your request (and the obvious logic they held) we originally set up two lines: one for will-call and another for entry being purchased at the door. Unfortunately, Portland did what it does best and let loose a steady rain that encouraged many of you to seek shelter under the tent, thereby losing the lines and confusing the situation. Despite regulations preventing us from expanding the lines into the street, in an effort to expedite entry and resolve the uncomfortable situation of the rain, we put ourselves on the line and opened another will-call station in the street.

Unfortunately, some of you were not able to make it in to the event. The event was a popular one, and selling out was inevitable. We encourage you to purchase advance tickets to future events. You want to come in and be a part of the events. And we want you there too!

Drinking plenty of water is a good thing! And, boy, did you all drink plenty of it! Next time, there will be more to go around.

We also appreciate your understanding of the necessity of a security pat-down. This ensures your safety and that Red Cube, as well as GBE, are able to continue to offer you quality events in the future.

Thanks again to all of you who came out to make this event such a positive success. We're looking forward to next year, with 2011 already filling up with great shows.

And, as always, we love to hear from you in a constructive manner, whether it be kudos or suggestions. Keep them coming!

  1. I think the thing that angered people the most was how slowly the lines were moving not the fact that people couldn't discern which line was will-call and which was the cash line. I personally waited in line for somewhere between 2-3 hours and was just over half way through before I decided I couldn't take the cold anymore and that I probably wasn't going to get in by the time I got through the line anyways (I realize I should have bought presale tickets, but I had friends who did have presale tickets that had to wait just as long as I waited)

From what I saw the issue was that there just weren't enough people working admissions for how well promoted the party was.

I was definitely disappointed with how disorganized it felt waiting to get in and literally only moving a step forward, maybe two, every 10 minutes. You guys have thrown some great parties in the past and this blog post obviously shows that you guys are aware there were problems and want to fix it so I'll definitely keep coming out and supporting Red Cube. You guys just need to find a way to streamline admissions to these bigger events, because we all know once you're in it's awesome :)

  2. uh yah maybe not make it 16+ and have more than 2 people checking id's and it would have worked out. wasting one security guard to yell at the line just pissed everyone else off even more

  3. You used the word caliber incorrectly, I think you were looking for "high caliber"

  4. i believe every person in line had there chance to be first in line ! second i also believe we went threw extra measures to keep those in line dry! when you have countless backpacks and such that need searched as a safety precaution for all, it takes time ! you try getting 1200 people searched then paid ,then wrist banded, ! come on people give us a break !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! half the people in line jumble there id have no cash ready etc, crowd security etc... less complaining please!!! lol

  5. Awesome show! Talent was amazing, drinks weren't too expensive, and the lights were INCREDIBLE. My advice to you is to fix the waiting in line problem b/c that was really awful, for reals. Even after telling them I had will call they let tons of people in before me. They were just really rude and that's something that HAS to change. Thanks for the tent out there btw. I can't imagine what all those kids felt like waiting for hours. Would've majorly sucked without it. Smart thinking!!!!!!

  6. I waited in line for hours. Not the worst experience I had that night. I have patience but don't have any thing nice to say about this venue. Yeah it was poppin with 800 guest that ALL RSVP on facebook. That should have been an indicator that you need more than 4 out houses. I had to go pee behind dumpsters and alleyways. I walked through layers of muck throughout the whole place. I felt like I was in a barn. EWW Ill never go again and if I do im callin you in to DHS. Better figure it out that was disgusting

  7. As parties continue to see a resurgence, events like this, LoveParade and EDC continue to see the problems that come with it- crowds are great but planners have to realize that people, like water, take the path of least resistance, and pressure builds whenever we are dammed up.

We were out of town for this event, but none of these problems are new. There really must be more ID checkers/cashiers/will call staff to get people in the door.

  8. I had a presale ticket and i waited in line for more than three hours. there was alot of confusion about which line i should be in, so i was waiting in the cash line at first for about 1 hr, only to find out that i was in the wrong line. then i was told to go to the wrong line, once again. there should be more organization with the lines at the next event, and definantly more than one person doing searches. my shoes were soaked with mud and ruined. once i got inside i had a good time, but it wasn't worth the 3 1/2 hour wait.
